About
When was the site created?
Movie World was created in November 2006.
Who runs the website?
Myself, Ross Miller (view profile here), am the sole editor of the website and the main reviewer.
Why was the site created? What is it's purpose?
Movie World was originally created as place for me to express my opinions as a movie fan and since every year from when the site was created I have seen more and more movies I have been able to write more reviews. The site has grown from just a place for my own reviews to having reviews of the latest DVD releases, having lists of my favourite movies and hiring other people to write for the site.
Who else writes for the site?
As well as our main reviewer we also have Sarah Gaish, who specializes mainly in foreign film. We also have occasional guest writers (who include Sabina and Colin) providing reviews and helping all round to contribute to the site.
What is the rating system and how does it relate to each review?
Five stars is the highest rating a movie can possibly get on the site, and half a star is the lowest. Half stars are included to give a more specific overall rating of each movie instead of having to lump it into a solid star each way. Below is how each rating is labelled:
- Fantastic
- Excellent
- Great
- Good
- Satisfactory
- Okay
- Poor
- Bad
- Rubbish
- Terrible
Can I write for Movie World?
I am more than happy to take applications for writers for the site, just send me an e-mail here with the usual information along with why you would like to write for the site and an example of a review you have written (old or new). You will get a reply as soon as possible.
